Obama to Ban the Public from Normandy Cemetery

This year is the 65th anniversary of D-Day.

As President’s before him, Barack Obama will be going to Normandy on the anniversary.  Unlike President’s before him, Obama has demanded that the cemetery be closed to the public on that day.  He plans to prohibit D-Day Veteran’s from observing their anniversary, from honoring their fallen friends – they can do that some other time, I guess – it’s not like they are old or anything.

Additionally, this will have a negative effect on the local economy – the economy of the people who lovingly honor and tend to the graves of our fallen warriors.

“UPDATE and CORRECTION: Barack Obama deciding to come to Normandy at the last minute, after his return from Egypt, has forced public tour companies to cancel their bookings for June 6th without warning. My original source blamed this on the US State Department when in fact it was the French government itself that made this decision.

I have learned from a follow-up source, that while it is unprecedented for the late notice, this would have most likely been the protocol in any case.

Editor – I still am annoyed that this last minute whim of Obama’s is causing all of this turmoil.  I also know that the cemetery at Normandy is run by the American Battle Monuments Commission and decisions are made in conjuction with our government.
