Sarah Palin ~ Going Rogue or Going Rouge
![]()
Sarah Palin Books Debut
November 17
Both the real book – Going Rogue and the detractors book – Going Rouge – debut on November 17. More of the ‘cult of Sarah’ fascination that is beyond comprehension to me… I don’t understand why people care either way about it. When I asked, one very smart and interesting analyst said, “I like how much she upsets the opposion.” Well, that’s fine and well, but that’s not a reason for her to be thought of as Presidential… we have Obama and look at the division in this country.
However, you can PreOrder Going Rogue at Amazon for the price of $9.00 – If you feel like you have to read this book, at least the price is right.
Uh-oh – suddenly, I can’t find Going Rouge on the Amazon list – puzzling…
– Going Rogue is still listed as Number One on Amazon - http://www.amazon.com/Going-Rogue-American-Sarah-Palin/dp/0061939897/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1257439227&sr=8-1

Election Winners & Losers

November 3, 2009 – Off Year Elections
Off Year Elections are always ‘fun’ – and watching people extrapolating meanings from them is even more ‘humorous’. This year was a little different.
In another HISTORIC move, Obama drug the Presidency into the fray in a way never seen before. He held rallies in Virginia. He held rallies in New Jersey. He spent amazing amounts of taxpayer money flying around trying to get his boys elected. But, it was not to be!

Sarah Palin interjected herself into a local race in New York 23. Despite the fondness of her fan club, she proved as incompetent a campaigner for others as did Barack Obama. The voters of New York 23 were not particularly thrilled in having their district turned into a national stage for social programs and they pushed back.
The voters spoke loudly and the big losers last night were Barack Obama and Sarah Palin. They interjected themselves into races and the voters slammed the door in their faces. The other big loser was confusing governance with social programming. The culture wars did not play well. Voters want the government to govern, not to manipulate social programs on either side. When social programs were directly challenged, they lost, as gay marriage was repealed in Maine – making 31 states to deny gay marriage.
The winners last night were Republicans in Virginia and New Jersey. It was amazing to watch the Trifecta in Virginia of Bob McDonnell as Governor, Bob Bolling as Lt Governor and Ken Cuccinelli as Attorney General and astonishing to see the victory of Chris Christie in New Jersey – Republicans in all in states where Obama used a great deal of political capital to get them defeated. HISTORIC! Congratulations to all!
Why did they win? – they won because they ran on the governance issues and didn’t muddy the waters with social programming. The adults in this country are sick of social programming and they spoke loudly at the polls last night.
In New York 23, Sarah Palin interjected herself to replace the Republican candidate in a bullying move of attacks from her Facebook site (I mean, really?) While able to drive Scozzafava out of the race and drive a wedge into the weakened Republican Party, she also LOST.
The spin machines are busy this morning distancing themselves from the races – “Obama went to a Miley Cyrus concert and didn’t even watch the results” – and I have a bridge to sell you. If it didn’t matter to him, why was he campaigning all of the time and spending taxpayer money to do it?
If the races had gone differently, Obama would have taken full credit – but he doesn’t want credit for the loss – sorry, you get both!

Soupy Sales ~ Farewell

Soupy Sales has died – and I hope he is eternally surrounded by the joy and laughter that he gave people.
Yes, I remember Soupy Sales… and, it is a memory that includes, with great fondness, family that is now distant and cold.
Soupy was 83 years old. He was known for his large bow tie (and none of us knew the color in the days of black and white tv) and the pies in the face. His sidekicks were White Fang (the meanest dog in the United States) and Black Tooth (the nicest dog in the United States). Famous entertainers were willing to go on his show and get their pies in the face alongside Soupy – people like Frank Sinatra, Tony Curtis, Shirley McClaine.
He did his “kids show” live – over 5,300 shows. I remember it coming on at 3pm – as we got home from school. My cousin practically lived for it.
One time Soupy got himself suspended for telling the kids to empty their mothers’ purse and mail him all the pieces of green paper bearing pictures of the presidents.
Thank you for the laughter you brought into our world!
Commenters are Ideologues
Most of the time commenters on blogs have nothing to add or are incapable of discussion. They just want to state their ideological stand, regardless of how inapplicable it is to the post. They get upset over any observation or criticism of anything they hold sacred (Obama).
But, this is my ‘house’ and I control the content 100%. I usually don’t post the idiotic comments. When I do, I usually reply. But, most of the commenters are ‘hit and run’ – they do not return to converse. So, today I decided to edit comments – yep, I can do that! – so if someone reads them in the future, they will have a laugh.
As with all blogs – I reserve the right to delete, edit, mock all comments. I reserve the right to use comments as a post here or elsewhere. If you want to honestly engage – STAY ON TOPIC and come back.
Update – two weeks have gone by and “Laura-I don’t get the point” hasn’t been back – why leave comments if you don’t want to engage? Because you are a vapid ideologue…
A Beta Male for President
Did We Elect a Beta Male As President?
By Greg Lewis
We’re all somewhat familiar with the body language dogs display when they greet each other. The dominant alpha male approaches directly, asserting his authority, while the beta male genuflects, crouches, tucks his tail, and may even end up on his back, exposing his neck in acquiescence, making sure the alpha male knows he has no intention of challenging him. With his “we will extend a hand if you are willing to unclench your fist” opening to the world’s dictators, the President is exhibiting classic beta male behavior, in essence rolling over on his back and exposing his throat to them to make sure they know he has no intention of challenging their authority.
Of course, the problem is that he’s not simply exposing his throat, he’s exposing America’s collective throat…..

To return to the canine metaphor: It’s the height of folly to think that other nations won’t be doing everything they can to make President Obama their bitch.
Worst Thing about Going Out in Public — People!
Over the weekend, we attended a public concert of a military band. The band was outstanding. What wasn’t outstanding were the idiots we had to be around to do it.
They chose a very bad venue – for parking, for access, for seating, for acoustics. But, we all endured the lousy parking, the very, very long line to get in, and the broken plastic bleacher seating to be able to hear the concert.
What many of us did not expect was the absolute rudeness, selfishness and idiocy of so many of the attendees – especially the twenty and thirty somethings.
We had to stand in a very long line to get in. Many of the people were very elderly, walking with walkers and canes. By the time the line wound through the parking lot, through the cafeteria and finally to the gym, a line of 12-13 years olds, guided by a mother, cut in line and nearly knocked people over.
When we finally found seats, we noticed that the bleacher seats were a bit broken and they were very uncomfortable, but we really wanted to hear the concert. Getting older and not having a back rest is difficult at best. Unfortunately, our seats were next to a group of people who had the idiocy to bring small children.
During the first half, a little boy jumped up and down on the floor and the bleacher and it was like living through an hour long earthquake – with sound effects. Several of us asked the parents to control their child, but they could have cared less. Directly next to me was a toddler, about two, who fussed and cried and was handed back and forth between people for the entire first half. She had dirty diapers and the stench was just charming. The mother wanted someone else to take her so she could cuddle with her boyfriend and rub his penis… hey, the lights are on, we can see you! Behind me, the little girl decided she would only sit on the floor of the bleacher and kept reaching across to the adults she didn’t know and untying their shoes – the mother would laugh about it each time. This was highlighted by a girl about 8 in her bright pink High School Musical outfit, walking back and forth in front of us about every 5 minutes and leaving the gymnasium by herself – and people wonder how kids get snatched…
The second half of the concert, several of us moved away from the kids as best we could and several actually left. The toddler was purchased a pack of Junior Mints which they shoved in her mouth through the entire concert. The shoe attacker no longer had shoes to attack, so she started whining. And, a young woman was there with a professional camera set up and every time she would move to take a picture, her 5 year old would thunder after her and screech to a halt.
Not one of these adults seemed to have any concern for the people around them or for their children. I was horrified. I can’t even imagine what little demons they are going to grow up to be.
Oh, the tickets were free and for full disclosure they weren’t worth enough for me to give them a better review than this!
Hybrid Car Bursts into Flame

Car explodes on Colorado Avenue near downtown Bend
Published: October 07. 2009 in the Bend Bulletin
Firefighters work to extinguish a car that caught fire at the intersection of Colorado Avenue and Bond Street in Bend just after 7 a.m. Tuesday. A news release from the Bend Fire Department suggests the fire started due to a malfunctioning of the battery and electrical system, located in the trunk in the 2002 BMW. Owner Kevin Dolphin told firefighters his car had been serviced within the past week. No one was injured, but the car was declared a total loss.
******************
What this doesn’t tell you – this was a hybrid vehicle and the electrical system, which is in the trunk, malfunctioned. There was a fire and the danger of electrocution and acid burns. While everyone is getting excited about some of these vehicles, have you taken any time at all to consider the risks?
Rio Won – Obama Lost

US President and former Illinois senator Barack Obama and US first lady Michelle Obama leave after presenting Chicago’s bid for the 2016 Olympics, on October 2, 2009 in Copenhagen. COPENHAGEN, DENMARK – OCTOBER 1: US First Lady Michelle Obama attends the Opening Ceremony of the 121st IOC Session at the Copenhagen Opera House on October 1, 2009 in Copenhagen, Denmark. The 121st session of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) will vote on October 2 on whether Chicago, Tokyo, Rio de Janeiro or Madrid will host the 2016 Olympic Games. ‘Rio won – Obama Lost’ — so read the headlines in the papers in Copenhagen…
And, for all intents and purposes, it is true.
Rio most definitely won the host city of the 2016 games. If you watch their presentation, there will be little question why. If you haven’t seen it – go watch it here - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yx8srBhgwcs . The Chicago presentation was not nearly as informative or inspiring, though there was a great deal of ‘Yes we can” in it.
Michelle Obama and Barry Obama descended upon Copenhagen expecting to be the most important people there. They delivered their trademark “ME” speeches. It is always all about them – never about anyone else. They offered nothing to the committee about what Chicago would give to the Olympics, but what the Olympics will bring to them. Both uttered, “We can walk from our house to the Olympics with our girls” (that’s a paraphrase, Michelle said ‘me n my girls’ and Barry said ‘walk ta the Olympics’ – lacking grammar as well as interest) Michelle wore her contrived gold dresses and stood out, as intended.
But, one of the most fascinating and unreported issues was the Q&A between the Chicago planners and the Olympic committee. The IOC expressed great reservations about having the cycling venue in Wisconsin. Not just out of the city, but out of the state as well. They also could see no plan in the assurances that they would find a quiet place for the shooting venue. The Q&A did NOT go well and it was evident to me that they had lost after listening to it.
Barry drug the American Presidency into the Olympics bid. I cannot believe that it was worthy of presidential time and the expense to the taxpayer. He diminished the presidency by reducing it to begging for something as unimportant as the Olympic games. He presented it as - ‘if you like me, you will like my town – let me have what I want.’ I think the lesson should be that like-ability does not translate into business deals, but Barry has never been in business.
The truly offensive rehashing of the loss has come from the left. Some have suggested that it is President Bush’s fault, which is beyond ludicrous. The blaming needs to stop – if not, just bury Obama’s presidency now, because he can not survive the shadow of Bush. It has also been suggested that if you were not for the Chicago Olympics, you are not patriotic. This one is beyond offensive. What about the Olympics is patriotic? We waste an enormous amount of taxpayer money to fund something that NEVER breaks even, but leaves tremendous debt, in order to provide yet another professional sports venue to a bunch of millionaires. Personally, I think there should be ONE Olympic venue – say in Greece – so these elaborate and totally unusable structures are not built over and over and over. Perhaps some average Americans might be able to attend, then.
So, the Obamas went to Denmark, and despite the Golden clothes, they came back with a huge carbon footprint and waste of taxpayer dollars and the veil of mourning.
